We offer a range of play-based counselling services designed to meet children and families where they are. Every family's journey is unique, and the approach is always tailored to your child's specific needs.

What We Offer

New Client Consultation

Free phone consultation

Finding the right therapist is all about connection. We offer a free phone consultation (roughly 15-25 minutes) to help you decide if we are the right fit for your journey. This casual, no-obligation conversation is a safe space to share a brief overview of what brings you (or your child) to therapy, learn about our therapeutic style, and to ask any questions you might have about logistics or the process. It's a completely pressure-free way to make sure you feel comfortable, safe, and heard before taking the next step.

Synergetic Play Therapy

Ages 3–12

Children are not small adults. They experience the world differently — through sensation, imagination, movement, and play. When a child is struggling, asking them to "use their words" is often asking them to speak in a language they haven't fully learned yet. Play is their first language. It's how they make sense of their world, process difficult emotions, and learn how to self-regulate. As a Certified Synergetic Play Therapist, we create a space where a child is safe to be themselves so that they can learn how to navigate the challenges they face. Synergetic Play Therapy® is a neuroscience-based, relational model of play therapy and a way of being in relationship — with yourself, your clients, and others. It blends play, science, and the therapist's own development to facilitate deep healing and transformation. It draws from neuroscience, Interpersonal Neurobiology, mindfulness, attachment theory, and physics.

Adult Therapy

Adults

People attend counselling for a variety of reasons, and taking the step to start therapy is a powerful investment in yourself. Our approach to counselling is person-centered, meaning we believe you are the expert of your own life. As your therapist our role is to offer a judgement-free space, an empathetic ear, and a commitment to wholeheartedly show up for you in the way that you need. Depending on your goals, our work together will provide you with a fresh perspective and a customized toolkit of practical strategies, empowering you to set stronger boundaries, build healthier relationships, and navigate life with clarity and purpose.

Parent Consultations

Parents & Caregivers

Sometimes parents and caregivers need a little extra support navigating their relationships with their children. Sometimes they need to feel like they are not alone. A parent coaching or consultation session is appropriate when you need some specific strategies or scripts to help you support your child. You are the most important person in your child's life, and research is clear that positive treatment effects are greatest when parents are actively involved in their child's therapy. Regular parent consultations give us a space to discuss progress, share observations, and develop practical strategies you can carry into the home. These sessions are collaborative — you bring your deep knowledge of your child, we bring our understanding of child development and the therapeutic process.

Family Play Sessions

All ages

Children do not exist in isolation — they exist within families, and families heal faster when they work together. Parents and caregivers are essential partners in the therapeutic process. A family session can take many forms — from playing a boardgame, to roleplaying, to having a facilitated conversation. Together we will decide what will be of the best benefit for your situation. Sometimes the playroom is most powerful when the whole family is in it. Family play sessions use play and creative activities to strengthen communication, build connection, and work through family dynamics in a way that feels natural and non-threatening — especially for younger children. Children and families heal faster when they work together, and these sessions help the progress made in the playroom extend into the home.

Initial Intake Session

Parents only

Our first session is just for parents and caregivers — no children present. We'll discuss your concerns, your child's history, and what you're hoping therapy can help with. This gives us the context we need and gives you a chance to ask questions and get a feel for whether we're the right fit for your family. It's a no-pressure conversation, and the first step on the path forward.

School Consultations

By arrangement

Navigating the public and independent school systems is daunting, especially when you are the parent/caregiver of a child with higher needs. With your permission, we can collaborate with your child's school or teachers to ensure a consistent approach between home and the classroom. A child's challenges don't exist in isolation — coordinating across the environments they navigate each day helps reinforce the skills and strategies they're developing. This may include attending school meetings or providing written recommendations.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is a play therapy session?

Each session lasts roughly 50 minutes.

How often are sessions?

Weekly sessions are recommended, especially in the beginning. Consistency is important for building the therapeutic relationship and maintaining momentum. The playroom becomes a predictable, reliable space your child can count on — and that consistency itself is part of the healing.

Do I stay in the room during sessions?

For individual play therapy, sessions are typically just the child and therapist. This gives your child the privacy and freedom to explore and express without feeling observed. We'll have regular parent consultations to keep you connected and informed about general themes and progress.

What about confidentiality?

What happens in the playroom is kept confidential — this is essential for building the trust that makes therapeutic work possible. We'll share general themes and progress with you, but specific details of your child's play stay private. The exception is if there are safety concerns, which we would discuss together.

How may our family be involved?

Families play an important role in children's healing. The interaction between a child's challenges and their family is always complex — sometimes children develop problems as a way of signaling that something is wrong in the family, and other times the whole family becomes distressed because the child's struggles are disruptive. In all cases, children and families heal faster when they work together. We'll involve family members at the level that makes sense for your situation, whether that's regular parent consultations, modifying how you interact at home, or family play sessions.

My child/teen doesn't like to play. Can we still book?

Please do! For younger children, the absence of play is usually indicative of a nervous system that does not feel safe. For teens, "play" often looks like doodling, fidgeting, or re-telling school stories.
