Welcome to Into The Wardrobe
Childhood is a time of incredible growth but navigating big feelings, transitions, and developmental changes can sometimes leave both children and parents feeling overwhelmed. At Into The Wardrobe we provide a specialized therapeutic space dedicated to children and their families.
In our practice, the playroom acts just like the wardrobe in the classic stories — a safe gateway where the heavy things of the real world fade, and the healing language of play takes over. Through imagination, expression, and specialized therapeutic support, we help children and families untangle complex emotions, discover their inner resilience, and find their way forward together.
Whether your family is navigating a difficult transition, processing a hard experience, or simply trying to understand a child's big behaviours, we are here to partner with you. Together, we can strengthen your family's foundation, deepen your connection, and gently shape a brighter path forward.
Possibility awaits when you step inside.
What is Play Therapy?
Play therapy is a structured, evidence-based approach to counselling that uses play — a child's natural form of communication — as the medium for expression, exploration, and healing. Children often lack the vocabulary to articulate complex emotions, but through play, they can process experiences, develop coping skills, and work through challenges at their own pace.
Play therapy is effective for children facing a wide range of challenges, from anxiety and trauma to family changes and social difficulties. It's not just "playing" — it's a therapeutic relationship built on trust, acceptance, and understanding.

A Safe, Welcoming Space
The playroom is a carefully curated environment — warm, inviting, and free from judgement. Every toy, art supply, and material has been chosen with therapeutic purpose, offering your child the tools to express what words cannot yet reach. Just as the wardrobe opened onto a world of possibility, our playroom opens onto a space where the heavy things of the real world fade, and the natural language of play takes over. Here, your child is free to explore, to be curious, and to be fully themselves in a space designed entirely for them.

Child-Centred Approach
In play therapy, toys are the child's words and play is their language. Rather than asking a child to communicate in an adult framework, we meet them where they are — in the natural language of play. Every session is guided by your child's needs and pace. The therapeutic relationship, based on attunement between the therapist and child, becomes a corrective emotional experience. Through this process, children learn the building blocks for self-regulation and secure attachment to self.
Family Partnership
Children do not exist in isolation — they exist within families, and families heal faster when they work together. Parents and caregivers are essential partners in the therapeutic process. We provide regular check-ins to share observations, discuss progress, and develop practical strategies you can carry into the home. Positive treatment effects are greatest when a parent is actively involved in their child's therapy. Whether it's adjusting how you interact with your child day to day, participating in family play sessions, or simply being supported in understanding what your child is going through, your role matters — and we're here to help you fill it with confidence.
